Olivia has been working with TAST since 2022, supporting us on some of our most important high-visibility and high-impact projects with her copyediting, proofreading, translation and subtitling services. She’s extremely proactive and reliable, with a positive problem-solving and critical-thinking attitude that she brings on to every project. We’re happy to have Olivia on our team and would definitely recommend working with her to anyone who needs a Spanish-to-English (US) translator and subtitler, and an exceptional editor with a keen eye for detail.

FAQ

As a human translator, I bring both discernment and awareness of style to my translations. I can think like your readers because I am a reader. And if you have questions, we can engage in a dialogue about your text that isn’t possible with a large-language model designed to agree with you no matter what. Plus, AI really does hallucinate and make things up.

I mostly work with material intended for the public, rather than legal or B2B content. Here’s a non-exhaustive list:

  • audio-guide narration
  • film festival catalogs
  • website copy
  • promotional/informational newsletters
  • film synopses and plot treatments
  • product descriptions
  • novels
  • non-fiction books

Time for a translator’s favorite response: it depends. In this case, on word count, terminological complexity, and my availability. If you have a project in mind, reach out and we can discuss turnaround times and deadlines.

I was born and raised in the US, so I mostly work with US English. That said, I went to grad school in the UK and often work into UK English as well.

Editing is a more involved process that looks not only for typos and grammatical errors, but also opportunities to improve style, structure, and logic. Proofreading doesn’t alter the content of the text, but it does involve correcting objective errors. I proof every project by default (or bring on an external proofreader depending on the nature of the content).
